Information on Modem Support
Modem support allows the client computer and the technical support
computer to hook up to each other. This allows technical support to see
exactly what it going on at your site. It also allows for what we call "On
Line Training". This is a special type of exact pinpoint training that
will go directly to what you need to know. It is done with both computers
connected with a modem.
For Modem Support
Internet Access or a 56k Modem (Internet Access is preferred.)
pcAnywhere 32® version 10 or newer
Information on Networking Your Computers:
If you want to network several computers, Windows® 98, NT, 2000 and XP
have the networking software built in. All you have to do is purchase a
100mbs Ethernet Network card for each machine, a network hub and the
proper cable to run between them. Normally you purchase the cable either
from the supplier of the network cards and hub or from a cable
installation company.
The main computer that holds all of the data is called the network server.
(Don’t use XP Home Edition or NT/2000 workstation as a server as it
will cause problems) All of the other machines on the network are
called workstations. Your server should be a faster machine than your
workstations. For example if the workstations were all going to be Pentium
III 500’s with 128mb of memory, you should run a Pentium III 650 or faster
with 256mb of memory in the server. The more memory and the faster the
CPU, the faster the software will run. For the server, more memory is more
important than a faster processor. If you run other applications on your
server or workstations, more memory and higher processor power is strongly
recommended.
